On Sunday afternoon, Newcastle host Arsenal at St James Park in the Premier League, as the home side look to seal their top-flight status for next season.

Newcastle United have now won their last three Premier League games, a run that has moved the Magpies ten points clear of the relegation zone, and into the top-half of the table.

Rafa Benitez’s side won 2-1 at Leicester last time out, which means they are just two points short of the magic 40-point mark. The recent good run of form has come as a surprise after a mixed campaign for the north east side.

The Magpies recent Premier League games have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last eight games in the top-flight.

The home side have been in decent form at St James Park in the league of late, as they are unbeaten in their last six home games in the league, having recorded three straight wins. Their recent home games in the league have been low scoring, though, with under 2.5 goals scored in seven of their last eight games.

Arsenal arrive in the north east on the back of three straight Premier League victories. The Gunners have little to play for this season, as they are marooned in sixth-place, but they have certainly thrived in recent weeks.

Last time out in the top-flight, Arsene Wenger’s side recorded a 3-2 home win over Southampton. It was the third consecutive game in which the north London side had scored three goals in the Premier League.

One negative for the Gunners of late in the top-flight is their away record. The visitors have lost their last four games on their travels in the Premier League while conceding two or more goals in three of those four defeats.

Forebet predicts that Arsenal’s fortunes on the road in the top-flight will improve here, with the Gunners recording a victory in a low scoring encounter.
