On Thursday night, Lazio host Austrian side Salzburg at the Stadio Olimpico in the Europa League quarter-final first leg.

The home side has endured mixed fortunes of late at home and abroad. The home side’s recent record in the Europa League is also a mixed one of late. Simone Inzaghi’s side is currently unbeaten in three European games.

However, over the last six European games, the men from the Italian capital have won recorded two wins, drawn twice and suffered two defeats. In the last round, the home side saw off Ukrainian side Dynamo Kiev 4-2 on aggregate.

Lazio have been prolific in front of goal in recent Europa League games, scoring at least two goals in four of their last five European outings, including their last two games.

Inzaghi’s team also have a strong recent record on home soil in the Europa League, losing just one of their last ten European games at the Stadio Olimpico, while recording seven wins in the process.

Salzburg are top of the Austrian Bundesliga and have been one of the surprise packages in the Europa League this season. In fact, the visitors are now unbeaten in 15 games in Europe’s secondary competition.

In the last round, Marco Rose’s side saw off German giants Borussia Dortmund, with a shock 2-1 win at the Signal Iduna Park enough to see them through after the second leg in Austria finished goalless.

Salzburg have been relatively high scoring in Europa League of late, scoring at least two goals in three of their last four European outings.

The visitors are unbeaten in their last eight away games in the Europa League, having won four and drawn four during their recent unbeaten run.

Forebet predicts that Lazio will end the visitors long unbeaten run in this competition by recording a victory in a high scoring encounter.
