Lyon set to get back to winning ways at Lille
On Sunday afternoon, struggling Lille host Lyon at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Ligue One, as both teams look to get back to winning ways.
Lille are currently 16th place in the Ligue One table, just one point clear of the relegation zone in the French top-flight. A run of just two league wins in their last nine games has majorly contributed to their current league position.
In fact, the home side have lost three of their last five games in Ligue One. Last time out they drew 2-2 with Nantes. The draw means that four of Lille’s last five league games have produced over 2.5 goals.
Lille have been inconsistent of late on home soil in Ligue One. However, the home side won just three of their last 11 league games at the Pierre-Mauroy. Christophe Galtier’s side have kept just one clean sheet in their last nine home Ligue One games.
Lyon’s chances of claiming a Champions League spot this season have been hampered by three straight defeats in Ligue One. The home side have also conceded at least two goals in their last three Ligue One games. Last time out in Ligue One, Lyon suffered a surprise 2-0 home defeat against Rennes.
Bruno Genesio’s side are currently fourth in the table, four points behind third-place Marseille, who occupy the Champions League play-off spot.
The visitors have lost their last two away games in Ligue One. However, they had won their previous seven away games in the French top-flight prior to the consecutive defeats. The visitors have also been prolific on their travels in Ligue One of late, scoring two or more goals in nine of their last ten away games.
Both sides are desperately in need of points from this clash to achieve their respective aims this season. However, Forebet predicts that Lyon will record a victory in a high-scoring encounter.
