Eibar set to add to Malaga’s recent woes

On Monday night, Eibar could enhance their chances of claiming a European spot in La Liga when they host rock-bottom Malaga at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua.

Eibar are sitting comfortably in mid-table in La Liga, having enjoyed a steady campaign in the Spanish top-flight. In fact, the minnows are in a position to challenge for a top-six spot, especially if results go for them this weekend.

The home side’s recent form in La Liga has been good. However, a 1-0 home defeat against high-flying Atletico Madrid last time out ended a seven-game unbeaten run in the Spanish top-flight.

Despite the defeat, Eibar have still recorded six wins in their last eight league outings, which is an impressive record for Jose Mendilibar’s team.

The defeat against Atletico also ended a six-game unbeaten run on home soil in La Liga for Eibar. In fact, prior to the defeat against the side from the capital, Eibar had won their previous four home league games, while also scoring at least two goals in their last five home games in La Liga.

Malaga have slumped to the bottom of La Liga in recent weeks after a terrible run of form in the Spanish top-flight. The Andalucian’s are now seven points from safety after four consecutive defeats.

Last time out, Jose Gonzalez Lopez’s side suffered a 1-0 defeat at Getafe. It was the fourth consecutive game in which the visitors have failed to score in La Liga.

Malaga’s recent La Liga games have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last six league outings.

The visitor’s away record is a major contributory factor to their position in the league table, as they have lost nine out of their last ten away games in La Liga.

Eibar are strong at home and Malaga are struggling for points. Forebet predicts that the home side will record a comfortable victory in this clash.
