Rayo Vallecano to record vital win in Segunda

On Friday night, two of the Segunda’s promotion candidates go head-to-head, as Rayo Vallecano host Real Oviedo in a big match in the Spanish second tier.

The home side are currently fifth place in the Spanish top-flight, but a victory in this clash could see Vallecano move above the third-place visitors in the table.

A recent six-game unbeaten run in the Spanish second tier ended last time out for Michel’s team, as they suffered a home defeat against Gimnastic Tarragona. The home side’s recent games in the Segunda have been high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six games.

A big contributing factor to the high scoring games has been Vallecano’s firepower, as they have now scored two or more goals in five of their last six Segunda games.

Rayo Vallecano have a strong home record, as they have lost just one of their last nine Segunda games on home soil, which was that defeat against Gimnastic Tarragona.

A win for Real Oviedo would move the visitor’s level on points with second-place Cadiz in the race for automatic promotion to La Liga. A recent good run of form has seen the visitors pick up five wins and a draw from their last six Segunda outings.

Last time out Anquela’s side drew 1-1 with league leaders Huesca to end a five-game winning run in the second tier for the visitors. The draw also ended a run of fourth straight clean sheets in the Spanish second tier for Real Oviedo.

Real Oviedo have a decent recent away record in the Segunda, winning three, drawing one and losing one of their last five games on their travels in the Spanish second tier.

This could be a tight contest and Forebet predicts that the home side will record a narrow victory to move ahead of the visitors in the fight for promotion.
