The Premier League games keep coming thick and fast over the festive period and there is not let-up for Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United as they meet at Wembley on Thursday night.

Both teams played on Tuesday and face a quick turnaround for this match, which takes place just 48 hours after their previous game.  Training will be very light, if any takes place at all and the players will need to focus again quickly to get the job done.

Tottenham Hotspur come into this match knowing they need a win if they are to keep the pressure on the teams above them and remain ahead of Arsenal.

West Ham United are just 1 point clear of the relegation zone and need every point they can get as they aim to secure their place in the Premier League for next season.

Following their 2-0 win at Swansea City on Tuesday night, trends show Tottenham Hotspur are unbeaten in six of their last seven games in all competitions.  Having endured a tricky spell in November, they appear to be back to their best and ready to mount a challenge on the top four.

There was much concern about playing at Wembley this season but Tottenham Hotspur are undefeated in their last nine Premier League games at the home of English football.  Mauricio Pochettino’s team have won six of their last seven league games on home soil and will believe this is a match they can add to that list of victories.

West Ham United picked up their first win in four matches thanks to Andy Carroll’s late strike against West Bromwich Albion on Tuesday.

Trends show this was only their second win in their last thirteen Premier League games and David Moyes still has a great deal of work to do, if he is to keep the Hammers above the relegation zone for the remainder of the campaign.

However, this is not a game West Ham United will be looking forward to, as they have struggled badly away from home this season.  Trends show they have won only one of their eleven away matches this season and that victory came at Stoke City, a team currently below them in the table.

West Ham United have defeated Tottenham Hotspur away from home once in their last fifteen attempts.

Looking ahead to the team news and Tottenham Hotspur will be without central defender Toby Alderweireld who is injured.  Pochettino will make some changes from the team against Swansea City and Harry Kane, Victor Wanyama, Harry Winks and Serge Aurier could all start the match.

West Ham United are still without the injured defensive duo of Jose Fonte and Sam Byram.  David Moyes will be wary of changing his starting XI too much following their success on Tuesday night but Javier Hernandez and Mark Noble could come into the team to freshen things up.

There is little doubt Tottenham Hotspur come into this match as the favourites to pick up maximum points.  West Ham United have improved in recent weeks but having played on Tuesday night, it’s the home team who have the better squad and this could make the different as Tottenham Hotspur run out winners.
