Chapecoense and Vitoria set for stalemate

Chapecoense host relegation-threatened Vitoria at Arena Conda in Serie A on Thursday night, as the visitors attempt to secure their top-flight status for next season.

Chapecoense are 13th in the Brazilian top-flight table and can still finish in the Copa Sudamericana spots, but could also still suffer relegation. Chape are eight points clear of the drop zone, while just a point outside the Copa Sudamericana places.

The home side are now six games unbeaten in Serie A, having won three and drawn three of their aforementioned six games. Last time out Chape recorded a 2-0 home win against high-flying Santos.

Their recent Serie A games have been low scoring, as four of their last five league games have produced under 2.5 goals.

Chapecoense’s home form in Serie A has been inconsistent of late. However, they have won three of their last five games on home soil in the league.

Vitoria are still very much in the relegation battle, 16th place in the table and just three points above the drop zone.

The Salvador outfit head into this game on the back of a four-game unbeaten run in Serie A. Unfortunately they have drawn three of those four games, including last time out against Gremio.

Despite that recent unbeaten record in Serie A, they have won just one of their last eight league games. Vitoria’s last 12 games in the Brazilian top-flight have seen both teams’ score, so expect goals in this one.

Vitoria actually have a decent away record in Serie A, as they have lost just one of their last ten games on their travels in the league. However, they have failed to win in any of their last four away games in the Brazilian top-flight, as three of their last four games have finished in draws.

Neither of these teams have been very consistent of late and Forebet predicts this game will finish all square.
