Rennes and Bordeaux hard to separate in Ligue One

Two of Ligue One’s most unpredictable sides meet on Friday night, as Rennes host Bordeaux at the Roazhon Park.

Both teams have started their league campaigns in inconsistent form. Rennes are currently 13th in the Ligue One table, while Bordeaux are eighth place, with just four points separating the pair.

Rennes have recorded consecutive wins in Ligue One, defeating Lille and last time out won 1-0 at Montpellier. However, those victories brought to an end a four-game run without a win in Ligue One for the home side.

Rennes’ games have been very tight and low scoring of late in the French top-flight, as five of their last six games have produced under 2.5 goals.

Christian Gourcuff’s side have struggled on home soil in Ligue One of late, losing four of their last six league games at home. A 1-0 victory over Lille in their last home game ended a five-game run without a home win in Ligue One.

Rennes last three home games in Ligue One have produced under 1.5 goals. This clash could well follow suit, as there has been under 2.5 goals in Bordeaux’s last four games in Ligue One.

The visitor’s recent form in Ligue One has been poor, as they have lost three of their last four league games, while also drawing against Nantes. Last time out, Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side suffered a 2-0 defeat at home to champions Monaco.

Despite their poor recent form, Bordeaux could move into Ligue One’s top-six with a victory in this clash.

The visitors form on the road in the French top-flight has been poor of late, as they have won just one of their last nine games. However, six of those nine games have finished in draws.

Forebet is predicting that this clash will also end all square and the two teams will share the spoils.
