Two teams just above the Bundesliga relegation zone meet on Sunday afternoon, as Bayer Leverkusen host Wolfsburg at the Bay Arena.

The home side have made an inconsistent start to their Bundesliga campaign this season, illustrated perfectly by their last four league games producing two wins, one draw and a defeat.

Last time out, Bayer drew 1-1 with Schalke. The draw leaves them 12th in the table and just one point above the relegation play-off spot in the German top-flight.

The home side have been strong on home soil in the Bundesliga of late, as they are unbeaten in their last four home games in the German top-flight, while scoring at least two goals in all four of those unbeaten games.

Bayer’s effectiveness in front of goal has also led to there being over 2.5 goals scored in each of their last five home games in the Bundesliga. History and trends suggest that this game will not end in an away win, as Wolfsburg have won just once on their last 18 visits to the Bay Arena in all competitions.

Wolfsburg heads into this clash a point worse off than their hosts in the table and only above the relegation play-off spot on goal difference. Like their hosts, the Wolves have been inconsistent this season.

Martin Schmidt’s team have a habit of drawing in the German top-flight, having drawn four of their last five Bundesliga games, including their last three. Their recent away games in the German top-flight have also been low scoring of late.

The visitors have a mixed recent away record in the Bundesliga. However, they have won just two of their last eight away games in the German top-flight.

Bayer have been strong on home soil in recent games and Forebet predicts that will continue in this with a home win.
