On Thursday night, Ponte Preta host high flying Santos at the Estadio Moises Lucarelli in Serie A, with the home side looking to return to form after a poor run of form in the Brazilian top-flight.

Ponte Preta are 15th in the table and only outside of the relegation zone by a solitary point. The Sao Paulo outfit’s form has been poor of late in the Brazilian top-flight, as they have lost four of their last six league games, including losing three of their last four.

Just two wins from their last 11 Serie A games suggest that the home side have been struggling for any decent form for a while now. Their recent Serie A games have been relatively high scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven games in Serie A.

One of the home side’s biggest problems of late has been their inconsistent home form, as Eduardo Baptista’s side have won two and lost two of their last four home games in Serie A. They have also lost five of their last nine league games on home soil.

Santos are currently second in the table and the visitors will be hoping to keep the pressure on league leaders Corinthians, who are eight points clear of Levir Culpi’s side. The Sao Paulo outfit have been in decent form of late and recorded victories over Atletico PR and last time out Palmeiras.

Santos have been hard to beat in Serie A of late and have lost one of their last 16 games in the Brazilian top-flight. However, the visitors have a habit of drawing their away games in Serie A, as five of their last seven league games have finished all square.

Their recent away games have also been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in their last 11 Serie A games on their travels.

Forebet predicts that Santos will emerge victorious from this Sao Paulo derby and leave the home side in a perilous position in the Brazilian top-flight table.
