Cruzeiro to move above Gremio in Serie A

On Thursday, two of Brazil’s top four teams meet as Gremio host Cruzeiro at the Arena do Gremio in Porto Alegre.
Gremio have enjoyed a decent Serie A campaign so far and currently sit in third position in the Brazilian top-flight table. However, their form has taken a dramatic dip in Serie A of late, as they have now lost three of their last four league games.
Renato Gaucho’s side ended a three-game losing run last time out with a 1-0 win over Fluminense. A concern for the home side is the fact that the win last time out was only their second in seven Serie A outings.
There is a growing trend in Gremio games of low scoring affairs, as there have been under 2.5 goals scored in ten of their last 11 outings in Serie A.
Gremio’s home form in Serie A has been slightly better than their overall form in the Brazilian top-flight, as they have lost just one of their last seven home games, recording four wins in the process.
Cruzeiro head into this clash in good form and could leapfrog Gremio in the table with a win in Porto Alegre. Mano Menezes are unbeaten in seven Serie A games heading into this encounter, a run that has included five wins and two draws.
There are usually goals in Cruzeiro games and both teams have scored in five of their last six games in the Brazilian top-flight.
Cruzeiro’s form on their travels has been mixed in Serie A this season. However, the visitors have won three of their last four away games, while also scoring two or more goals in those said games.
This game could be a tight one, as there is not much between the two teams. However, Forebet predicts that the visitors will take maximum points and move above the hosts in the table.
