Botafogo to strengthen top-six spot in Serie A

On Wednesday night, Botafogo host midtable Chapecoense at the Estadio Nilton Santos as the home side attempt to strengthen their position in the Copa Libertadores spots in the Brazilian top-flight.
Botafogo currently sit sixth in the Serie A table and have been in decent league form of late. However, a four-game winning run in Serie A was ended last time out with a 3-2 home defeat by Vitoria.
The home side have been high scoring of late in the Brazilian top-flight, scoring two or more goals in their last five league outings. The Rio outfit have a mixed recent record on home soil in Serie A. However, they have won three of their last four games on home soil, so are relatively strong at home.
The home side have also been relatively prolific at the Estadio Nilton Santos in Serie A in recent games, scoring two or more goals in five of their last seven league outings.
Chapecoense have enjoyed mixed fortunes this season in Serie A. However, the visitors are on an unbeaten run of three games in the Brazilian top-flight, recording two wins and a draw.
Last time out Emerson Cris’ team drew 1-1 at Vasco Da Gama. The game followed a similar theme to many of the visitor’s recent games, in that it was low scoring. Four of the visitor’s last five league games have produced under 2.5 goals.
Chapecoense have been inconsistent on their travels in Serie A and have won just three of their last 11 away games in the Brazilian top-flight. Their recent away games in the league have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven games.
