PSG and Bayern Munich difficult to separate in the Champions League

On Wednesday night, two of the teams regarded as contenders to win the Champions League meet at the Parc des Princes, as PSG host Bayern Munich in Group B of Europe’s elite competition.

Both these teams started their Champions League campaigns off with victories. PSG recorded a resounding 5-0 win at Celtic, while Bayern defeated Anderlecht 3-0. The pair are hot favourites to make it through to the knockout stages.

However, the head-to-head meetings could decide who wins the group and ultimately get what is seen as a more comfortable draw in the last 16 of the competition.

The home side have started their domestic campaign in fine fettle, winning all but one of their seven league games in Ligue One. The French giants have also lost just one of their last nine games in this competition.

However, that loss was a significant one, as it was a 6-1 defeat at Barcelona that saw Unai Emery’s side exit the competition at the last 16 stage last season. The French side also have a decent home record in the Champions League, as they are unbeaten in nine games on home soil in the competition.

The team from the French capital have however drawn three of their last five home games in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich have made a mixed start to their defence of the Bundesliga crown. The visitor’s recent record in the Champions League is also mixed, as they have won just three of their last six games in Europe’s elite competition.

The German champions have also won just two of their last eight away games in the Champions League, so they have not been great travellers of late. The Bavarian giants usually perform in the big games and are unlikely to be easy opponents for PSG.

This game is a tough one to call and Forebet predicts that this game will finish with honours even and neither team will gain the advantage in the race to win the group.
