Italian giants AC Milan face the ultimate David v Goliath clash on Thursday night, as the Rossoneri host Macedonian side KF Shkendija in the Europa League play-off first leg.

The Rossoneri made it through to the play-off round of the competition by recording a comfortable aggregate victory over Romanian side CS U Craiova in the third qualifying round.

The home side have spent big in the summer in order to strengthen their squad. However, the new-look team may need time to gel. However, they will be expected to come through this tie in a comfortable manner.

The home side are 11 games unbeaten in the Europa League, having recorded seven wins in the process. Milan have also lost just one of their 11 home games in this competition in its current guise, recording seven victories in the process.

The visitors are a major contrast to the home side. In fact, their club is just 38 years old. However, in recent years they have established themselves as one of the top teams in Macedonia. Last season they finished second in the Macedonian top-flight, having won their first ever domestic title back in 2011.

Shkendija started their Europa League campaign in the first qualifying round. The visitors have already recorded wins over Dacia of Moldova, Finnish outfit Finland and Lithuania’s Trakai in the last round.

The Macedonian side have a good recent record in this competition, losing just one of their last six games in the competition, recording four in the process. They have also been prolific in this competition this season, scoring three or more goals in four of their six games.

This game is the biggest in the recent history of the visitors. However, they are major underdogs to progress past the Italian giants.

Forebet predicts that the Rossoneri will record a comfortable victory in this clash and put one foot into the group stages of the competition.
