Ponte Preta to move into the Copa Sudamericana spots

Ponte Preta and Fluminense go head-to-head in the Brazilian Serie A on Thursday, as both teams look to enhance their Copa Sudamericana hopes.
Ponte Preta currently sit 15th in the Serie A standings but trail their tenth place opponents by just three points. In fact, a win would move the home side above Fluminense and into the Copa Sudamericana spots.
However, the home sides recent form has been inconsistent, hence their poor position in the table. The Sao Paulo outfit have won just two of their last nine games in Serie A.
Their recent league games have been high scoring with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven competitive outings. Ponte Preta’s recent home form in Serie A has not been great, as they have won just one of their last four league outings on home soil.
However, they have managed to keep clean sheets in seven of their last 10 games on home soil in Serie A.
Fluminense could move up to seventh place in the Serie A table with a win in this clash. However, the visitors experienced a blow recently as they lost highly rated youngster Richarlison to Premier League Watford.
The visitors have been inconsistent in Serie A of late, but last time out they recorded a 3-1 win over Atletico GO. Abel Braga’s side are also unbeaten in five away games in Serie A. However, three of those five games have finished in all draws.
Both teams have scored in seven of Fluminense’s last eight games in Serie A, including their last four away games in the Brazilian top-flight.
There is not much between these two teams in terms of quality. However, Forebet predicts that Ponte Preta will just edge this clash and move above their opponents in the table.
