Dynamo Kiev to teach Young Boys a lesson
Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kiev host Swiss side Young Boys at NSK Olimpijs'kyj in the Champions League third qualifying round on Wednesday night.
The home side head into the game as favourites to make it through to the play-off round, but they cannot afford complacency against a very dangerous Swiss side.
Dynamo Kiev have a poor recent record in the Champions League, having won just one of their last eight games in Europe’s elite competition. They have also failed to score in three of their last four outings in Europe’s primary competition.
The Ukrainian side’s recent home record in the Champions League is not great either, as the home side have won just two of their last nine games in the competition on home soil. In fact, they have lost three of their last four home games in this competition, conceding at least two goals in all three defeats.
The home side have made a positive start to their domestic campaign, recording consecutive victories over Chornomorets and Shakhtar Donetsk, which should give them some momentum heading into this clash.
Just like their opponents, Young Boys recent record in the Champions League is also poor, as the Swiss side have lost six of their last seven games in Europe’s elite competition. The visitors have also conceded at least twice in all six defeats.
The Swiss side have only ever played six away games in the Champions League and suffered five defeats while conceding two or more goals in all five defeats.
Despite their poor record in this competition, recent results have been decent, as the visitors are unbeaten in three games that have included a draw with Stoke before a victory over Benfica. They also won their opening game of the Swiss season beating title rivals Basel 2-0.
Dynamo are favourites to win this clash and Forebet predicts that the Ukrainian side will head to Switzerland for the second leg with a comfortable lead.
