Corinthians to stretch their lead at the top of Serie A

On Thursday, Serie A league leaders Corinthians travel to face struggling Avai, as the visitors look to extend their lead at the top of the table.
Avai are currently 17th place in the Serie A table after winning just three of their 14 league games this season. The minnows form has improved slightly in recent Serie A games, as they have lost just one of their last five Serie A outings.
However, Claudinei Oliveira’s team have struggled on home soil of late in the Brazilian top-flight, failing to win any of their last four home league games. In their last home game, Avai suffered a 4-1 defeat against Coritiba.
Despite five goals in their last home league game, Avai’s games on home soil have been low scoring, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven games.
Corinthians have been one of the standout teams in this seasons Serie A and are currently leading the table by eight points. Fabio Carille’s side are unbeaten in the Brazilian top-flight this season, having won 11 of their 14 league games so far.
A 2-2 draw against Atletico PR last time out ended a five-game winning run for the Sao Paulo outfit in Serie A. The visitor’s recent Serie A games have been low scoring with under 2.5 goals scored in six of their last eight games in the league.
Corinthians away form in Serie A last season was poor. However, this time around the visitors have won five of their six away games in Serie A, including a big win at Palmeiras in their last away outing in the Brazilian top-flight. Five of their six away games in Serie A have produced under 2.5 goals.
The visitors have been in formidable form this season and Forebet predicts the visitors will record a 12th league win of the campaign in this encounter.
