Fluminense to climb the table against Chapecoense

Fluminense host Chapecoense at the Maracana Stadium on Tuesday, as the home side look to climb the Serie A table.
Fluminense have endured a mixed campaign so far, but are eighth in the table and could climb as high as fourth with a victory in this one. Abel Braga’s side are now unbeaten in three league games and head into this clash on the back of a 4-0 win over Ecuadorian side Universidad De Quito in the Copa Sudamericana.
Last time out in the league, the men from Rio drew 1-1 at Sao Paulo. Fluminense’s side do not have a great recent home record in Serie A, as they have failed to win in their last three league games on home soil, losing once and drawing twice.
Both teams have scored in 13 of Fluminense’s last 14 home games, so goals are pretty much assured at the Maracana when the home side are involved.
The visitor's form has dipped in recent weeks, as they have now suffered four consecutive defeats in all competitions, including suffering a 1-0 defeat at Defensa y Justicia of Argentina in the Copa Sudamericana.
Vagner Mancini’s side’s recent form in the Brazilian top-flight has also been poor, as they have suffered five defeats in their last six outings in Serie A. Their recent away form has not been great of late, either, as they have won just one of their last five games on their travels in the Brazilian top-flight.
The visitor’s recent Serie A games have been high-scoring, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last six games in the league.
One positive for Chapecoense is the fact they have won five of their last six competitive games against Fluminense.
Fluminense’s recent big win in the Copa Sudamericana will have raised confidence in the home side and they should come out on top in this encounter.
