Flamengo to add to Sao Paulo’s woes

Flamengo will continue their pursuit of Serie A’s top two Corinthians and Gremio on Sunday night, as the Rio outfit host struggling Sao Paulo.
Flamengo are third in the table and trail second place Gremio by five points. Last time out Ze Ricardo’s team won 2-0 against Santos in the Brazilian Cup. The home side’s recent form in the league has been decent and they have suffered just one defeat in their last 17 Serie A outings.
The boys from Rio are the Brazilian draw kings in recent times, having drawn 10 of those aforementioned 17 games in the Brazilian top-flight.
Flamengo have been slightly more consistent on home soil, having won 12 of their last 17 home games and going unbeaten in the process. However, their home games have been relatively low scoring of late in Serie A, with under 2.5 goals scored in five of their last seven league games on home soil.
The visitors have been poor in Serie A in recent games and have failed to win any of their last five league games. Their poor recent form has contributed to Rogerio Ceni’s side being 16th in the table and just a point outside the relegation zone.
Ceni’s team ended a two-game losing run in the league last time out by drawing 1-1 with Fluminense. However, a trip to the Maracana is hardly a welcome one in their recent form.
The visitors form has been poor on their travels, as they have lost six of their last eight games on the road in Serie A, winning just once in the process. They have also failed to score in six of their last eight away games in the Brazilian top-flight.
These two teams head into this game in contrasting form and unsurprisingly Forebet predicts that the home side will pick up the three points.
