Corinthians have made a lightning start to their campaign in the Brazilian Serie A. However, that start will be put to the test on Sunday night, as Botafogo visit the Arena Corinthians.

Last time out the home side drew 1-1 at Colombian outfit Patriotas Boyaca in the Copa Sudamericana. Their form in the Brazilian top-flight has been highly consistent, though, as they are unbeaten in ten games in Serie A, recording eight wins in the process.

Fabio Carille’s side are currently four points clear of Gremio at the top of the table. The home side's lead could well be stretched this weekend, as Gremio face a tough trip to Palmeiras.

The league leader’s home form has been formidable of late, as they have recorded wins in their last four games on home soil in the Brazilian top-flight, while also achieving a ten game unbeaten on home soil in Serie A.

Botafogo arrive in Sao Paulo on the back of a 1-0 defeat against Atletico Mineiro in the quarterfinals of the Brazilian Cup. The defeat means the visitors have now suffered consecutive defeats having suffered a 2-0 home defeat against Avai in their previous league game.

Jair Ventura’s side have enjoyed mixed results of late. However, they still seventh in the table and a win could move the visitors up to as high as third in the table.

The men from Rio have also enjoyed mixed results on their travels of late in Serie A, recording two wins, two draws and suffering two defeats in their last six games on the road.

Goals have been scarce in Botafogo’s recent away games, with 15 of their last 16 away games in Serie A producing under 2.5 goals.

Corinthians have been in good form in Serie A and Forebet predicts that the league leaders will carry on their good run with a win in this clash.
