Palmeiras to win big clash at the top of the Brazilian top-flight table

On Saturday, two of the top teams in the Brazilian Serie A meet, as Palmeiras host Gremio at the Estadio Municipal Paulo Machado de Carvalho in Sao Paulo.
Palmeiras are enjoying a decent campaign so far and are fourth in the table. The Sao Paulo outfit have been in good form of late and could move to within three points of second-place Gremio with a victory in this one.
Cuca’s team have won four of their last five games in Serie A, including winning 2-1 at Ponte Preta last time out.
Palmeiras’ home form has also been strong in the Brazilian top-flight, as they are unbeaten in 14 games and have kept clean sheets in six of their last seven home games in Serie A. Furthermore, the home side are also unbeaten in nine home games against the visitors in all competitions.
The visitors are currently trailing leaders Corinthians by four points, but have been one of the teams of the Brazilian season so far. Renato Gaucho’s side are the top scorers in the Brazilian top-flight with 23 goals.
However, it has not all been positive for the visitors in recent games, as last time out they suffered a 1-0 home defeat against rivals Corinthians. The defeat brought to an end an unbeaten run of six games in Serie A, a run in which Gremio had recorded five victories.
Gremio have a decent away record of late in Serie A, recording three wins from their last five league games on their travels. A key stat from those recent away games is that the visitors have scored two or more in all five of those away games in Serie A.
Both teams are likely to rest players with Copa Libertadores games coming up, but Forebet predicts that the home side will emerge from this clash with maximum points.
