New York City FC host Minnesota United at the Yankee Stadium on Friday, as the home side look to close the gap on the Eastern Conference’s top-two.

Patrick Vieira’s side are currently third-place in the Eestern Conference, four points behind second-place Chicago Fire. However, the men from the Big Apple have been in decent form in MLS of late, recording three consecutive victories and going four games unbeaten in the American top-flight.

Vieira’s side have been prolific in those four unbeaten games, scoring twice in all four games. In fact, their high-scoring form of late has contributed to their being over 2.5 games in five of their last six league games.

NYFC’s form on home soil has been good in MLS of late, as they are unbeaten in their last four league games, having won three games in the process. Last time out Vieira’s side recorded a derby win at New York Red Bulls.

Minnesota are not enjoying a great debut campaign in MLS and are ninth in the Western Conference, just two points off the bottom of the table.

However, not all is lost for Adrian Heath’s side, as they are just four points behind sixth-place LA Galaxy, who occupy the last play-off position. Their recent form has been inconsistent, but Heath’s side will be hoping to build on a two-game unbeaten run after a victory over Portland Timbers and a draw with Vancouver Whitecaps last time out.

The visitors have certainly offered value for money in the goals stakes in recent games, as four of their last five MLS clashes have produced over 2.5 goals.

One major negative for the visitors is the fact they have lost six of their eight away games in MLS, while also conceding at least two goals in seven of their eight MLS games on the road.

There is very little to suggest that Heath’s sides form on their travels will improve in New York and Forebet predicts that Patrick Vieira’s side will record a victory at the Yankee Stadium.
