Arsenal Sarandi and Olimpo Try Again
The Argentina Primera Division match between Arsenal Sarandi and Olimpo was due to take place earlier in the month of May. However, having played 45 minutes of the game, the referee decided to call an end to the match because of the rain, which was making the pitch unplayable in Sarandi.
The decision was made at half-time, with the match poised at 0-0 and the Argentina Football Federation have decided the match should continue from this point on Thursday night. Therefore, in an unusual situation, the match will begin at the start of the second half, with the score at 0-0.
This is a big 45 minutes for both teams at the foot of the Argentina Primera Division but especially so for Arsenal Sarandi, who find themselves bottom of the table.
Having been dumped out of the Copa Argentina by Primera C team Sacachispas on penalties last week, trends show it is now two games without a win for Arsenal Sarandi. Despite enjoying three wins in a row between 11th and 21st May, two of which were in the Primera Division, Arsenal Sarandi have found victories difficult to come by this season.
Trends show the club have won only four of their twenty-five league games this season and wins have become very rare. There have been two wins at home for the fans to enjoy all season.
Olimpo also need the points in a bid to avoid the relegation zone. They currently sit 18th in the league table but remain only 8 points clear of Sarmiento in 29th place. A win in this match would do wonders for their season and would see them move up to 16th place.
Having endured a bad run of form in the Primera Division, picking up only four wins from their first twenty league games, trends show Olimpo have improved recently.
Three wins from their last five games has been enough to see them move up the table and clear of Arsenal Sarandi at the bottom of the league. Wins at Patronato and at home to Aldovisi and 5th place Estudiantes, have been enough to ease the threat of relegation.
Olimpo have won two matches away from home this season, at Patronato and Racing Club.
The teams will remain unchanged from the eleven players which left the field at half-time when this match was first played. The managers may make changes if they wish but only using their substitutes, unless a man has picked up an injury since.
With the game poised at 0-0 and with only 45 minutes to play, this is a unique situation. Given the way results have gone, Arsenal Sarandi need to claim maximum points and are expected to come out for the win.
However, both teams could find it difficult to get into their stride with just 45 minutes remaining and the match could easily end 0-0. This result would suit Olimpo, who may be happy to defend and see out the second half for a point.
