Real Madrid head to the Estadio de Balaídos on Wednesday night to take on Celta Vigo in La Liga.  This match is Real Madrid’s game in hand on current league leaders Barcelona and a win will send them 3 points clear with one game each to play.

It’s a huge match for Zinedine Zidane and his players, who know a victory will leave them needing just a point in the final match of the season, which is at Malaga.

Celta Vigo have been faltering of late and were hugely disappointed to miss out on a place in the Europa League final.  Eduardo Berizzo’s team played very well in the second leg at Old Trafford and could easily have won the game but wasted their best chances in-front of goal.

They have been left with very little to play for this season but with this and one more home match to come in La Liga, the players will want to give their fans something to shout about.  What better way to finish the season than with a win over Real Madrid?

Having defeated Real Madrid away in the Copa del Rey and held them at home in the same competition, Celta Vigo will have no fear going into this match.

However, they have been struggling for form of late and trends show Celta Vigo have failed to win any of their previous eight games in all competitions.  They have drawn two and lost six, including their last three games at home.

In fact, Celta Vigo have won only one of their previous six home matches in La Liga and have recently tasted defeat against Real Betis and Malaga.

Real Madrid enjoyed a good 4-1 victory over Sevilla on the weekend and travel to Vigo in high spirits.  Zidane’s team are just three games away from a La Liga and Champions League double, which would be a great achievement.

Trends show Real Madrid have lost just two of their previous nineteen games in all competitions.  Their most recent defeat came at the Vicente Calderon in the Champions League but having won the first leg against Atletico Madrid 3-0, the 2-1 defeat felt like a victory.

Real Madrid have lost only three games in La Liga this season and travel to Vigo having won their last seven away La Liga matches in a row.

Looking at the team news and Celta Vigo have no new injury concerns ahead of the game, with Giuseppe Rossi the only absentee.  Real Madrid are still without Gareth Bale and Daniel Carvejal, the latter of which is out for the season.  With Nacho suspended, Danilo will likely play at right-back, an area Celta Vigo will look to target.

Real Madrid are on the trophy march and cannot stop scoring goals.  There are so strong in attack, it is almost a given Celta Vigo will need to score at least 2 goals if they want to win this game.  This is something they have failed to do in any of their last eight games.

Celta Vigo may find the back of the net once against a Real Madrid defence who struggle to keep clean sheets away from home but are likely to concede more themselves.  Back Real Madrid to win this game with both teams scoring, as they take another step towards the league title.
