Reds to sink the Saints at Anfield on Sunday

Liverpool could move a step closer to securing a Champions League spot on Sunday lunchtime, as the Reds welcome midtable Southampton to Anfield.
With rivals for the top-four Arsenal and Manchester United clashing at the Emirates Stadium later on in the day, this game represents a golden opportunity for Jurgen Klopp’s men to cement their place in the top-four of the Premier League table.
Klopp’s side head into this clash in decent form, having suffered just one defeat in their last nine outings in the top-flight. However, that defeat came in the Reds last home outing in the top-flight against Crystal Palace.
The Merseysiders have a surprising mixed home record of late in the league, as they have won just four their last eight home games in the top-flight. Klopp’s side are third in the Premier League table, though, and a win would put them seven points clear of fifth-place Manchester United in the race for a Champions League place.
A home win looks like a big possibility considering that visitors Southampton have failed to win in their last three league games, suffering two defeats in the process.
The Saints have conceded seven goals in their last three league games and their away record is poor of late, as Claude Puel’s side have lost five of their last eight games on their travels.
The visitor’s recent away games have been full of goals in the top-flight, with over 2.5 goals scored in five of their last six games on their travels. The Saints have a decent recent record against Liverpool and are unbeaten in four games in all competitions against the men from Merseyside.
Puel’s side won at Anfield earlier in the season in the semi-final of the EFL Cup so will be heading into this game with little fear.
However, Forebet predicts that the Reds will record a victory in this clash and move a step closer to sealing Champions League football for next season.
