Monaco and Dortmund to end all-square

Last Wednesday Dortmund hosted AS Monaco at the Signal Iduna Park in the Champions League quarter-final first leg. The game should have happened on Tuesday night, but for an explosion aimed at the Dortmund team coach just hours before the game. The explosion caused injury to Dortmund star Marc Bartra, who needed surgery on a wrist injury.

UEFA decided to reschedule the game to Wednesday and Monaco won 3-2. The scheduling of the game has now been highly questioned by the German club, as some of the players were still reportedly recovering from the incident.

On Wednesday night the second leg of the tie takes place at the Stade Louis ll. Monaco have the clear advantage of a one goal lead and three away goals. Leonardo Jardim’s side are also in top form having recorded four straight wins in all competitions.

Monaco have also not been beaten on home soil in the Champions League in two years, with the last team to beat the team from the principality on home soil in Europe Arsenal in March 2015.

In that time Monaco have recorded seven wins and two draws and they have recorded wins in their last three home games in Europe’s elite competition.

Dortmund have not been in the best of form of late, but last time out recorded a 3-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga. Thomas Tuchel’s side had suffered consecutive defeats prior to the win over Frankfurt against Bayern Munich and of course against Monaco in the first leg.

BVB have failed to win either of their last two away games in the Champions League. However, those games were at Real Madrid and Benfica, both difficult venues for opposition sides to win at.

Forebet predicts this game will end all-square in an entertaining encounter, as Monaco do not need to win the game and Dortmund’s recent away form has not been great either.
