In a game that could be crucial in both the fight for the Europa League spots and the fight for survival in Ligue One, Bastia host Lyon on Sunday afternoon.

The home side are currently bottom of the Ligue One table after a terrible run of form. Despite slumping to the bottom of the table, the home side are still only three points from safety. A 2-1 win at relegation rivals Dijon last weekend could prove the catalyst to an improvement in form.

The win was desperately needed as Rui Almeida’s side had failed to win in any of their last 13 games in Ligue One. Les Bleus will be hoping that they can follow up that vital win with another one against the visiting OL.

One of Corsicans problems of late has been finding the net, as prior to the win at Dijon they had failed to score in their previous four league games. Home draws in Ligue One have also hampered their campaign, as eight of their last 11 league games at the Stade Armand-Cesari have finished in draws.

Lyon currently occupy fourth spot in Ligue One, the last Europa League qualification spot in the French top-flight. Bruno Genesio’s team are 16 points behind Nice, who occupy third place. However, they are five points clear of fifth place Bordeaux, so OL need to record a victory to stave off the likes of Bordeaux, and Marseille slightly below them.

The visitors head into this game with the distraction of a Europa League quarter-final second leg against Besiktas on Thursday night, so Genesio may rotate his squad.

Lyon do not have a particularly good record at Bastia in Ligue One, having won on just four of their last 18 visitors to Corsica. However, Forebet predicts that Lyon will improve that record and claim a relatively comfortable win in this clash.
