Brighton Hove Albion have been challenging at the top end of the Championship for a while now, but have so far failed to earn promotion to the Premier League.

However, this season the Seagulls look set to finally win automatic promotion to the Premier League. On Friday night Chris Hughton’s side could move one step closer to achieving their aim when they visit QPR.

The home side are currently 16th in the Championship table and ten points clear of the relegation zone. The Hoops have suffered two straight defeats in the top-flight, after three wins and a draw in the second tier.

Ian Holloway’s team have been strong on home soil in the Championship of late, though, recording four consecutive wins and scoring at least two goals in the process in all those victories. However, that recent good home record will be majorly put to the test by the high-flying visitors.

Brighton are currently second place in the table and nine points clear of third place Huddersfield in the fight for automatic promotion. The Seagulls are also only one point behind league leaders Newcastle United, so they could still win the Championship title this season.

However, the priority for the Seagulls is to secure automatic promotion. Hughton’s team have hit form of late in the second tier, winning four of their last five Championship games.

The one blot on Brighton’s recent copybook has been their away record in the Championship. The visitors have won just two of their last seven away games in the second tier, although both those wins have come in the last four away games in the Championship.
