Eibar to enhance European hopes with Las Palmas win

Eibar have been one of the surprise packages of La Liga this season and are currently eighth in the Premier League table.

On Thursday night Jose Luis Mendilibar’s side host out-of-sorts Las Palmas at the Estadio Municipal de Ipurua, as the minnows look to enhance their chances of European football next season.

Eibar’s form has not been great of late, as they have won just one of their last five La Liga games. However, that one win came in their last outing at Villarreal, in an impressive 3-2 victory.

The home side have a decent recent home record in La Liga, as they have suffered just one defeat in their last six home games in La Liga. That one defeat came against league leaders Real Madrid.

The home side will be hopeful of building on the win against Villarreal last time out. Mendilibar’s side are just six points behind Athletic Bilbao who occupy sixth place and have a game in hand on the team from the Basque country.

Eibar’s recent home games have been high-scoring with over 2.5 goals scored in six of their last seven games on home soil.

Las Palmas are 12th in La Liga and have been inconsistent in La Liga of late. Quique Setien’s team have suffered five defeats in their last nine outings in the league. However, they have recorded two wins from their last four La Liga outings.

Their away record in La Liga of late is poor, as the visitors have not won any of their last 13 games on their travels. In fact, the Islanders have lost six of their last seven La Liga games on their travels, so the trends suggest that Setien’s team will suffer defeat at Eibar.

Forebet also predicts that Eibar will record a victory in this clash and revive their chances of clinching a Europa League spot.
