Villarreal will look to gain ground on the Champions League spots in La Liga as the Yellow Submarine travel to out-of-form Las Palmas on Friday night.

This is a clash of two very different teams. Las Palmas are a team involved in high-scoring games, with over 2.5 goals scored in four of their last five La Liga outings.

By contrast, the Fran Escriba’s side tend to be in low-scoring games, with under 2.5 goals scored in nine of their last eleven games in the top-flight.

Las Palmas have enjoyed a relatively steady campaign and are currently 12th in La Liga. However, The Islanders form of late has been inconsistent, having claimed just one win in their last five outings in the Spanish top-flight. In that five-game run, the home side did record a memorable 3-3 draw at league leaders Real Madrid, although they did throw away a 3-1 lead late on in that clash.

Las Palmas have a pretty impressive home record in La Liga, having lost just twice in their last 17 outings in the league at the Estadio de Gran Canaria. However, both of those home defeats have come in their last three outings on home soil.

Villarreal are right in the mix for the top four spots and are currently sit fifth in the table, four points behind fourth-place Real Sociedad. The visitors have been in decent form of late, winning four of their last five games in La Liga, with the exception being a home defeat by league leaders Real Madrid.

Escriba’s team have been very solid defensively this season, keeping clean sheets in five of their last eight La Liga games. In fact, the visitors have the best defensive record in the Spanish top-flight.

Forebet predicts that Las Palmas’ poor run of form will continue in this clash and Villarreal will emerge with a big win in their quest for a top-four position this season.
