Toffees to hit a sticky patch at Tottenham
In-form Everton head to north London on Sunday lunchtime to face high-flying Tottenham at White Hart, as Ronald Koeman’s side look to make up ground on the top-six.
Everton’s top-flight campaign has come to life in 2017, as the side from Merseyside are now unbeaten in their last nine league games, winning six times in the process. This good run of form means that the seventh-place Toffees have cut the gap between themselves and the teams above to just four points.
Koeman’s side would have been even higher in the table if it were not for three draws in their last four league games on their travels. No doubt a trip to north London is a test of the newfound confidence on the Blue half of Merseyside.
One of the most interesting aspects of this game could be the potential shootout of the joint-top scorers in the top-flight in Spurs’ Harry Kane and Everton’s Romelu Lukaku. Both players have 17 league goals for the season and will be looking to add to their tallies. Kane has a slight injury but is expected to feature for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
The pair could find it hard to breach the opposition backlines, though, as both teams have good recent defensive records. Spurs have the best defensive record in the league and have kept clean sheets in six of their last seven Premier League outings at White Hart Lane.
Everton meanwhile have kept clean sheets in five of their last seven league games, as Koeman has instilled more solidity into the Toffees team.
Tottenham have won their last eight home games in the top-flight and are second in the table. However, this game represents a solid test of their resolve. Forebet predicts that the side from north London will come out on top in this potentially tricky clash.
