Toffees can pile on the misery for old boss Moyes

Sunderland boss David Moyes comes up against former club Everton on Monday night at the Stadium of Light. The visitors are favourites to come out on top after a bright start to life under wily Dutch boss Ronald Koeman.

Sunderland has endured their customary slow start to their Premier League campaign, picking up just one point from their first three Premier League games. This will not surprise Black Cats fans, as their team have made a similar sort of start to the last few seasons, dispensed with the team’s boss and then made great escapes from the relegation zone.

It is still very early in the campaign, but David Moyes will be hoping his side can hit form before that happens this season. Their early season form suggests that the team are in for another season of toil and trouble.

The fact that the Scot himself declared that the Black Cats were in a relegation dogfight so early in the campaign suggests that he lacks confidence in his own player's abilities.

The last thing that Moyes needs is a trip to the Stadium of Light of former club Everton, who seem to be moving in the right direction under Koeman. The Dutchman has restored faith and confidence within the club.

He has also made some shrewd signings so far, with the likes of Ashley Williams, Idrissa Gueye and Yannick Bolasie. The Toffees look a far more organised and stable team. They also have a number of very dangerous attacking players. Romelu Lukaku, Gerard Deulofeu, Bolasie, Ross Barkley and Kevin Mirallas are all match-winners on their day.

The big players have not quite found their form in the Premier League, but Lukaku and Deulofeu both impressed on international duty midweek. If the Toffees forwards hit form in the north east then I really do fear for the Black Cats in this clash, as it could be yet another bad day at the office for Moyes and his team.
