Liverpool to inflict fifth straight Premier League defeat on Brighton
9321

Fresh from booking their spot in the Champions League quarter-finals, Liverpool will continue their Premier League title bid when they visit Brighton on Saturday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side sit second in the table – six points behind Manchester City – having won each of their last seven league matches.

On the flip side, the Seagulls find themselves in thirteenth place – 30 points behind Liverpool – after suffering four successive losses in the Premier League.

Brighton enjoyed a hugely impressive first half of the season, losing just four of their first 23 matches. However, they have taken a turn for the worse of late.

Not only have they lost each of their last four Premier League outings, but they have also managed to win just one of their previous eight.

When you look at the bigger picture, Graham Potter’s men have only managed to win three of their past 25 games across all competitions.

Following a series of negative results, the Seagulls are now closer to the relegation zone than the European places.

By contrast, Liverpool have lost just two of their 27 league matches this term – picking up 19 wins and six draws along the way.

Not only have they won each of their last seven Premier League games, but they have also won 13 of their previous 16.

Having conceded a measly 20 goals this season, only Man City and Chelsea have a better defensive record than Klopp’s boys.

It is also worth noting that Liverpool are the Premier League’s top scorers, with a whopping 71 goals to their name.

Although the Reds suffered a 1-0 loss to Inter Milan on Tuesday, they secured their place in the last eight of the Champions League with a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Head-to-head: Believe it or not, Brighton are unbeaten in their last three league meetings with Liverpool – picking up one win and two draws in that time.

That said, Brighton have managed to win just one of their previous 11 encounters with Liverpool across all competitions.

Team news: Brighton centre-back Adam Webster is currently sidelined through injury. Jeremy Sarmiento and Enock Mwepu are also doubts for the Seagulls.

Liverpool have no fresh injury worries, although there are question marks over the fitness of Roberto Firmino and Ibrahima Konate.

With Brighton on the slide and Liverpool bidding to remain in the title race, all the signs point towards an away win on Saturday.

Forebet predicts that both teams will score at the Amex. However, Liverpool are expected to come out on top.
