Real Madrid cannot underestimate Manchester City
Real Madrid head into Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Manchester City, as favourites to make it to it to the final, but Los Blancos cannot underestimate the Premier League side, as they have the talent to shock the Spanish side.
In Argentinian striker Sergio Aguero the Citizens have one of the best strikers in world football. The former-Atletico Madrid star has scored 28 goals this season, despite encountering his perennial injury-offs.
In the quarter-finals Wolfsburg illustrated that Real are not invincible. The side from the Spanish capital have looked pretty solid in Europe’s elite competition, but Aguero and exciting Belgium attacking midfielder Kevin De Bruyne have the skill, intelligence and guile to breach that Real backline.
City are in uncharted territory, as it is their first ever semi-final in the European Cup. In contrast the club from the Spanish capital are making their 27th appearance at this stage of this competition.
Real Madrid may have been happy to avoid Bayern Munich and neighbours Atletico in the final four, but this tie is a potential banana skin for Zinedine Zidane’s team. The draw look to be kind to the Spanish giants in the quarter-finals, but the Spanish giants came close to coming unstuck against Wolfsburg.
Most football predictions will point to Real Madrid will advancing from this tie, but having watched City in the past few games they can be a hard team to stop when on form. If City can produce their best form in this clash then they have the potential to win the first leg and cause a massive shock over the two legs of this exciting tie.
