2022/23 Fantasy Premier League – 5 New Signings to Pick
2058

Believe it or not, the 2022/23 Premier League season is less than a month away. As a result, Fantasy Premier League has already launched.

FPL fanatics around the world will be busy tinkering with their squads in the coming weeks. So, here are five Premier League newcomers to get into your team.

• Erling Haaland, Manchester City (£11.5m/FWD)

The highest-profile Premier League newcomer is Erling Haaland, who has joined Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund for £54m. Having scored 83 goals in 87 games for Dortmund, the Norwegian will be a hugely popular FPL pick.

Priced at £11.5m, Haaland is among the most expensive players in the game. In fact, only three players – Mohamed Salah (£13.0m), Kevin De Bruyne (£12.0m) and Som Heung-min (£12.0m) – are priced higher.

• Darwin Nunez, Liverpool (£9.0m/FWD)

With a starting price of £9.0m, Liverpool new boy Darwin Nunez is bound to attract plenty of attention from FPL managers. After all, the 23-year-old netted 34 goals in 41 appearances for Benfica last season.

Alongside Salah, Liverpool have no shortage of attacking options – including Diogo Jota (£9.0m) and Luis Diaz (£8.0m). The majority of FPL managers will select Salah, but Nunez is also likely to find himself in lots of teams.

• Fabio Vieira, Arsenal (£6.0m/MID)

Arsenal paid Porto £31.5m to acquire the services of Fabio Vieira. Since the Gunners paid a hefty sum of cash to sign the Portuguese midfielder, he should be given plenty of game time during the upcoming campaign.

Mikel Arteta now has multiple top midfielders at his disposal, including Bukayo Saka (£8.0m), Martin Odegaard (£6.5m), Emile Smith Rowe (£6.0m) and Gabriel Martinelli (£6.0m). Vieira looks good value at £6.0m.

• Diego Carlos, Aston Villa (£5.0m/DEF)

Last season, Matty Cash was the Aston Villa defender to own. The right-back racked up 147 points after registering four goals, three assists, 13 clean sheets and 11 bonus points.

Although Cash will be a popular option once again this season, the arrival of Diego Carlos gives FPL managers a different option. Villa paid Sevilla £27.9m for the Brazilian centre-back, so he is bound to be a first-choice defender for Steven Gerrard.

• Sven Botman, Newcastle United (£4.5m/DEF)

On the face of it, Sven Botman appears to be a steal at £4.5m. Newcastle enjoyed a remarkable turnaround in the second half of the previous campaign, meaning they should hit the ground running in 2022/23.

Kieran Trippier (£5.0m) and Matt Targett (£5.0m) are the expensive Newcastle defenders. But if you’re looking to free up an extra £0.5m elsewhere, picking Botman over Tippier or Targett could prove to be a smart move.
