Fantasy Premier League – Top Picks for FPL Gameweek 23
3033

We have a quick turnaround in FPL this week. Gameweek 22 ends on Wednesday, with the Gameweek 23 deadline scheduled for 18:30 (GMT) on Friday.

That means we haven’t got much time to plan our transfers and set our teams in stone. Hopefully, the information on this page will make life a little easier for you.

Before we get stuck into the top FPL picks for Gameweek 23, let’s take a look at the fixtures.

  • Watford vs. Norwich
  • Everton vs. Aston Villa
  • Brentford vs. Wolves
  • Leeds vs. Newcastle
  • Man Utd vs. West Ham
  • Southampton vs. Man City
  • Crystal Palace vs. Liverpool
  • Arsenal vs. Burnley
  • Leicester vs. Brighton
  • Chelsea vs. Tottenham

On Friday night, relegation strugglers Watford and Norwich City get the Gameweek 23 action under way.

Manager-less Everton come up against Steven Gerrard’s Aston Villa on Saturday, before London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham wrap up the round on Sunday.

Here are the top picks for FPL Gameweek 23.

Goalkeepers

Thanks to a penalty save, Jack Butland (Crystal Palace) was the highest-scoring goalkeeper in the previous around. He is currently owned by just 0.4% of managers, making him a great differential.

Jose Sa (Wolves) continued his streak of impressive hauls, too. The Portuguese hasn’t scored below three since Gameweek 11.

With Edouard Mendy (Chelsea) at the Africa Cup of Nations, Ederson (Man City) is the best premium goalkeeper option at the moment. He has kept five clean sheets in his last seven outings.

Defenders

Adam Webster (Brighton) got on the scoresheet in midweek, enabling him to pick up an eye-catching 13-point haul. Conor Coady (Wolves) joined Webster as an unlikely goalscorer in the previous round.

Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) and Joao Cancelo (Man City) continued to prove their worth, picking up 12 and 11 points, respectively. They are must-have defenders right now.

Given that Burnley have netted just 16 goals in 17 games this season, loading up on Arsenal defenders might be a good idea this weekend. The Clarets visit the Emirates on Sunday.

Midfielders

Jack Harrison (Leeds) was the surprise package for Gameweek 22. The winger netted his maiden Premier League hat-trick against West Ham, earning a whopping 20 points as a result.

Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd) was also immense. The Portuguese bagged two goals and two assists in Gameweek 22, securing a whopping 23 points as a result.

Jacob Ramsey (Aston Villa) impressed in the previous round, too, notching a goal and assist against Man United. He is only £4.6m and is owned by just 2.1% of FPL managers.

Forwards

Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea) failed to deliver in what was a Double Gameweek for the Blues. He fired back-to-back blanks against Man City and Brighton.

There are plenty of interesting cheaper forward options to consider at the moment, including Joao Pedro (Watford), Richarlison (Everton), Neal Maupay (Brighton) and Adam Idah (Norwich).
