Sammie Szmodics – Blackburn Rovers
Sammie Szmodics has enjoyed a season to remember. The 28-year-old has scored 25 goals in 42 league games for Blackburn Rovers, putting him five goals clear at the summit of the scoring charts.
With two matches remaining, Blackburn find themselves three points clear of the relegation zone. Whatever happens to the club between now and the end of the season, Szmodics looks destined to leave in the summer.
Morgan Whittaker – Plymouth Argyle
Like Blackburn, Plymouth Argyle remain in danger of relegation. The Pilgrims sit just two points clear of the bottom three with two games left to save their season.
Morgan Whittaker has been a bright spot in an otherwise gloomy campaign for Plymouth, bagging 19 goals and eight assists. Only three players have racked up more goal involvements than the 23-year-old winger.
Jack Clarke – Sunderland
Jack Clarke has chalked up 15 goals and four assists in 38 Championship appearances for Sunderland this term. As a result, the 23-year-old's market value has risen, making him an attractive option for bigger clubs.
Clarke was at Tottenham Hotspur between 2019 and 2022 but failed to make a Premier League appearance. If he carries on the way he’s going, he could find himself representing another top-flight team.
Jaden Philogene – Hull City
Jaden Philogene started his career at Aston Villa before leaving for Hull City last year. Since moving north, the 22-year-old winger has registered 11 goals and six assists in 29 league games.
The former Villain has already made four appearances for England U21, scoring three goals for good measure. There is a sense that he could return to the Premier League in the not-too-distant future.
Jacob Greaves – Hull City
Philogene’s Hull teammate Jacob Greaves is another player who is destined for bigger things. In fact, the young centre-back has already been named in the Championship Team of the Season for 2023-24.
Greaves has been a rock at the heart of Hull’s backline this season, chipping in with two goals and four assists at the opposite end of the pitch. At 23, he has already made 174 first-team appearances for the Tigers.
