Monaco aiming for fourth straight Ligue 1 win

Monaco’s shaky start to the Ligue 1 campaign is behind them. Les Monegasque are fourth in the league head of round No. 9.

Philippe Clement’s team is on a three-game winning streak and is aiming for a fourth straight win at home versus Nantes at the weekend.

Nantes won the Coupe de France last season, marking a remarkable campaign. However, the Canaries’ highs of last term are turning into lows. Antoine Kombouare’s team is 16th in the standings and just one point above the relegation zone.

Ligue 1 will relegate four teams at the end of the season to reduce the top flight to 18 teams for the next campaign.

It will be a battle at the bottom of the standings, and Nantes are currently a part of the fight.

Monaco posted a record of 3W-3D-0L against Nantes in the teams’ last six meetings at the end of regulation. The last three matches finished as draws between the two sides.

Nantes picked up five points from the last 18 points on offer. Their last four matches ended without a win, and the Canaries limp into the weekend’s fixture. Nantes were outscored 10-7 in the last six games in Ligue 1.

Clement has three players in the Monaco treatment room ahead of the weekend. Defender Guillermo Maripan has an abdominal injury and is a doubt to play.

Forward Kevin Volland is a major double following an ankle injury. Forward Willem Geubbels is also considered a doubt to play the match following a muscle strain.

Nantes midfielder Samuel Moutoussamy is suspended for the fixture. His absence will leave Kombouare with a few headaches in the middle of the park. Defender Fabien Centonze has a hamstring strain and is out of action until the end of October.

Monaco are in fine form and should post a win at the weekend versus Nantes. Les Monegasque could get a 2-1 victory as the defence plays well once more.
