This summer’s World Cup just keeps delivering excitement and drama. On Monday night, Belgium defeated Japan 3-2 in the last-16 to make it through to the last-eight of the competition.
Brazil defeated Mexico 2-0 on Monday afternoon to book a quarter-final spot at World Cup 2018. Second half goals from Neymar and Roberto Firmino were enough to see the South American team make it to their seventh straight World Cup quarter-finals.
Argentina exited the World Cup at the last 16 stage on Saturday after a 4-3 defeat against France. La Albiceleste headed into the tournament with many concerns over the team.
Russia kickoff the World Cup 2018 on Thursday June 14 against Saudi Arabia. Russia come into the tournament ranked 70th in the world and the lowest ranked national team at the World Cup. Manager Stanislav Cherchesov has his work cut out for him.
Uruguay go to the World Cup 2018 as the No. 14 ranked team in the world. It is a surprise ranking due to the amount of quality manager Oscar Tabarez has in his squad. Luis Suarez, Edinson Cavani and Diego Godin are just three of the names Tabarez has called upon to bring the South Americans success.
Australia join France, Peru and Denmark in Group C at this summer's World Cup. The Aussies go into the tournament having replaced manager Ange Postecoglou at the end of qualifying with Bert van Marwijk.
Serbia kickoff their World Cup campaign on June 17 against Group E rival Costa Rica.
Sweden have a good record at the World Cup, despite not being considered as one of the big European nations when it comes to football.
Iran will be participating in their fifth World Cup finals this summer and will be hoping to make history by progressing beyond the first round of the tournament.
Switzerland are a European nation who have rarely troubled the latter stages of the World Cup or European Championships in recent years yet have made the Round of 16. The Swiss accomplished this in three of their last four World Cup appearances, the last of which came four years ago in Brazil.
South Korea will play in Group F at the World Cup 2018. It is the most difficult group at this year's tournament and deservedly gets the nickname 'Group of Death'. South Korea will play Sweden, Mexico and Germany during the group stage.
Peru kickoff their World Cup campaign on June 16 against Denmark. It won't be easy for the South Americans as the favoured Danes will be a difficult team to breakdown. Things won't get any easier for Peru as they face France and Australia in their final Group C matches.
Poland will be participating in their first World cup for 8 years when they step out for their opening game against Senegal in Moscow on the 19th June.
The current squad of Belgium players has been lauded as the best in their history but they are yet to deliver on the big stage. The 2018 World Cup presents another opportunity for this group of players to come together and show what they can do.
Senegal burst onto the scene at the 2002 World Cup in South Korea and Japan when they defeated defending champions France in the opening game of the tournament. The Lions of Teranga went on to reach the quarter-final of the event before being eliminated by Turkey.

Croatia burst onto the scene at the 1998 World Cup in France, having previously been part of the former Yugoslavia. With world class players including Robert Prosinecki, Davor Suker and Zvonimir Boban, Croatia reached the semi-final of the tournament and eventually finished in third place.
In qualifying for the 2014 World Cup, Iceland finished second in their group, above Norway and Slovenia but well adrift of leaders Switzerland. They reached the playoffs but were defeated by Croatia.
England go into the World Cup 2018 tournament following an unbeaten qualifying campaign. The Three Lions have been in this position before, however. Whether the side can perform at the World Cup like they did in qualifying is the big question.
