    On Friday night, Gent will be looking for a crucial home win in the race for the Belgian title, as they welcome Anderlecht to the GHELAMCO-arena.

    With just six league matches of the Jupiler League season remaining, Gent are nine points behind league leaders, Club Brugge. Both teams will be in the Championship play-offs and will be looking to head into the play-offs with some momentum.

    The home side has certainly built up some good form of late in the Belgian top-flight, as they are unbeaten in five league games, having recorded wins in their last four outings in the league. Last time out, Jess Thorup’s team recorded a 3-0 win at Mechelen.

    Gent have a lot to thank their forward players for this season, as Roman Yaremchuk and Jonathan David have weighed in with ten and 12 goals respectively in the Belgian top-flight this season. It is of little surprise that only leaders Club Brugge have scored more league goals than the home side.

    Anderlecht have been underwhelming this season. The visitors are currently ninth-place in the table, and four points adrift of the Championship play-off spots in the Jupiler League.

    Their recent form has improved at a crucial time, though, as the visitors have recorded back-to-back wins over Cercle Brugge and last time out Royal Excel Mouscron. The wins mean that Anderlecht have lost just once in their last seven league matches.

    The visitors have enjoyed mixed results of late on their travels in the Belgian top-flight. However, they have suffered just one defeat in their last seven outings on the road, while remaining unbeaten in their last three away matches.

    One negative for Anderlecht heading into this difficult encounter is that they have won just one of the last six meetings with Gent.
