Brilliant Bale can bury Belgium

Brilliant Bale can bury Belgium

Wales head into Friday’s Euro 2016 quarter-final with Belgium as underdogs, but when they have Real Madrid star Gareth Bale in their team they will always have a chance of winning any game.

Bale has scored three times in France and produced one assist in France and been a key performer for his country. Ironically some people would argue that we have not yet seen the best of the 26-year-old in the competition.

Belgium have started to look like a real contender for the trophy in the last few games and the Red Devils have look much more solid in defence keeping clean sheets in three consecutive games. Unlike some other countries star players, Bale has made a big contribution to his team at Euro 2016.

The whole Welsh team have been well-organised and superb at the European Championships. However Bale is the player that has the individual match-winning ability and is likely to be the biggest threat to the Belgians chances of advancing into the last four of the competition.

Bale’s sheer presence on the pitch will be a distraction to Belgian defence, just like the Welsh defence will be distracted by the likes of Eden Hazard and Romelu Lukaku.

The 26-year-old has enjoyed a decent campaign in Madrid and now looks to be putting his stamp on the Los Blancos team. However if Bale can help his side to the semi-finals of Euro 2016 then he will become an even bigger national hero than he already is.

Gareth Bale is no doubt the star of the Welsh team and a match-winner, but his presence on the pitch may just create enough space for one of his teammates to find the net and record upset the odds.
