    Erik ten Hag continues to be under major pressure with Manchester United after the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season.

    The Dutchman may not be around for much longer, should these terrible results continue.

    Many names have been thrown into the hat as the next man in charge. However, Thomas Tuchel could well be the right man for the Red Devils.

    Excellence at Chelsea

    Although things ended with a bit of bitterness for Tuchel in his time at Chelsea, this was a period in time where he showed the Premier League and Europe in general what he is capable of.

    The German manager took over in January, midway through the 2020/21 campaign, following the sacking of Frank Lampard. Chelsea were in terrible form at the time and a chance to get back in the Champions League spots was looking unlikely.

    However, Tuchel managed to eventually guide Chelsea into fourth and would incredibly manage to guide the Blues to their second-ever Champions League triumph.

    In fact, better yet, within just a handful of weeks after taking over, Tuchel closed the gap to just two points on West Ham United in fourth.

    In the end, Chelsea’s sacked Tuchel based more on the disagreements with ownership, rather than failure to perform on the pitch.

    In fact, he left the Blues after 100 games that saw him with 60 matches, draw 24 times and lose a further 16 games. Tuchel also claimed the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in his 21-month stay at Stamford Bridge.

    Trophies Galore

    Although league performances have been very underwhelming for ten Hag, nobody can look past the idea that he is - based on trophies - United’s most successful manager post-Sir Alex Ferguson, having won the League Cup and FA Cup in his two years at Old Trafford.

    However, in comparison to Tuchel, ten Hag lacks behind considerably in the medal count.

    His first trophy came when he won the DFB-Pokal at Borussia Dortmund in 2016/17, as he then went on to have a very successful period in France with Paris Saint-Germain.

    The German guided PSG to consecutive Ligue 1 titles in both seasons in Paris, while also claiming the Coupe de la Ligue, Coupe de France and two Trophée des Champions titles.

    Tuchel would then go on to win the Bundesliga title in his first season at the club before losing out to Bayer Leverkusen the following year.
