Monaco will be seeking to register a sixth win on the trot in Ligue 1 when they play host to fellow high-fliers Lyon at their Stade Louis II and in turn, could move top of the French top flight with all three points here if other results go their way.
Recent results have produced an impressive five-match winning streak for the hosts.
Monaco have picked up wins against Saint-Etienne 4-0, Metz 4-0, Dijon 3-0, Bordeaux 3-0 and a 1-0 victory over Angers which has helped maintain Monaco’s position in 3rd spot in Ligue 1.
Indeed, AS Monaco look in good shape ahead of this important clash with Lyon as the hosts have lost just one of their last 19 matches overall.
That came in the shape of a 1-0 loss away from home at Strasbourg, while also recording 15 wins as well.
Monaco are also unbeaten in their last nine games on home turf at their Stade Louis II too which includes six wins while also keeping seven clean sheets as well, and the hosts have lost just once at home all season.
Lyon were handed a 3-2 loss at home by the current Ligue 1 leaders, Lille, which left the visitors remaining in 4th place and they now hit the road for a tough looking trip to the municipality to take on an impressive Monaco outfit in their own backyard.
The visitors have produced some mixed results of late as they’ve registered wins against Angers and Nantes but have also fallen to defeats against PSG and the aforementioned defeat to Lille, while winning just one of their last four on the road.
Lyon have performed well on their travels this season though as the visitors have suffered just one defeat on the road all season with their one aberration being a 2-1 loss at Montpellier early on in the campaign.
Since that defeat, Lyon have put together an impressive 15-match unbeaten run away from home in Ligue 1 and all three points away at Monaco on Sunday evening would see them reduce the deficit on their 3rd placed hosts to just a single point.
Monaco have lost just one of the last three meetings at home against Lyon and with their solid form at home, Monaco might just edge a narrow victory here.
