Hoffenheim probably should be taking a lead into the 2nd leg of their Europa League tie against Molde, but instead the side are level at the halfway stage with three goals apiece. The Germans took an early lead in the 1st leg through Dabour and then doubled their advantage via the same player just before the half hour mark.
Molde pulled a goal back through Ellingsen in the 41st-minute but Hoffenheim restored their 2-goal lead in first-half stoppage time thanks to an effort from Baumgartner.
The second half belonged to the hosts though, as Andersen made it 3-2 in the 70th-minute and just 4-minutes later Fofana levelled the scoreline, setting up an interesting return leg in Germany.
Following that game, Hoffenheim thrashed Wolfsburg 4-0 at home, while Molde haven’t played as they are awaiting the start of the new Eliteserien season. Hoffenheim are in great goalscoring form right now, as witnessed in the 1st leg against Molde, scoring 14-goals in their last six matches in all competitions.
Clean sheets have been at a premium for the Bundesliga side, with Hoffenheim keeping just two in their last six attempts. Both teams have scored in four of Hoffenheim’s last five games and Molde have scored 11-goals in their last four competitive and non-competitive matches.
Hoffenheim’s Israeli striker, Dabour, has scored 6 goals in the Europa League this season, including two at Molde, and he could make the difference for the hosts this Thursday.
Molde have goals in them as we know, with Omoijuanfo, Ellingsen and Eikrem all with 3 Europa League goals to their name.
The hosts could well be without Mijat Gačinović, Stefan Posch, Robert Skov, Håvard Nordtveit, Kevin Akpoguma, Dennis Geiger, Ermin Bicakcic, Benjamin Hübner and Konstantinos Stafylidis for the 2nd leg as each is struggling with injuries. Ola Brynhildsen and Kristoffer Haraldseid are the only injury concerns for the visitors.
This game looks set to produce lots of goalmouth action, just as it did in the 1st leg. However, with the home advantage, Hoffenheim will be expected to see out a result this time around.
The hosts are scoring goals for fun right now and while both teams are expected to score on Thursday, Hoffenheim should outscore Molde on this occasion.
