Spurs expected to secure clean-sheet win over Sheff Utd

Sheffield United will be hoping to build on their first Premier League win of the season when Tottenham Hotspur visit Bramall Lane on Sunday.

The Blades are still rooted to the foot of the table with just five points to their name, but they are now only three points behind West Brom and nine points from safety.

As for Tottenham, they sit sixth on 30 points – one point ahead of seventh-place Southampton and six points behind league-leaders Manchester United.

Following 17 failed attempts, Sheff Utd finally picked up their first league win of the season on Tuesday, beating Newcastle United 1-0.

With Ryan Fraser seeing red just before half-time, the Blades played the second 45 minutes against ten men. On 73 minutes, Billy Sharp scored the winner from the penalty spot.

Having enjoyed 67% possession and racked up 17 shots, there is no denying that Chris Wilder’s men deserved to win the game.

Following a 3-2 victory over Bristol Rovers in the FA Cup last weekend, Sheff Utd head into Sunday’s game on a two-match winning streak.

Despite their recent upturn in form, it won’t be easy for the Blades to extend their winning run against Tottenham.

Spurs have only lost three of their 17 Premier League games this season, with eight wins and six draws coming along the way.

Not only are Jose Mourinho’s men among the highest scorers in the division, but they also boast the joint-second best defensive record.

Regardless of those impressive statistics, it is no secret that Tottenham’s form has dipped slightly in recent weeks.

Spurs have only managed to win one of their last six league games, picking up three draws and two defeats in that time.

Last time out, Mourinho’s men were held to a 1-1 draw by relegation-threatened Fulham. Sheff Utd can take confidence from that.

Head-to-head: Interestingly, the Blades avoided defeat against Tottenham last season, drawing 1-1 away before winning 3-1 at home. But it is important to remember that a lot has changed since then.

Team news: Sheffield United have Jack Robinson, Sander Berge and Jack O’Connell on the sidelines, although Enda Stevens and George Baldock are expected to be fit for Sunday’s clash.

Tottenham are likely to be without Giovani Lo Celso this weekend, while Steven Bergwijn is also an injury doubt.

Sheff Utd will be full of confidence following their first win of the season, but Tottenham are expected to be too strong for the Blades.

Forebet predicts that Spurs will claim a low-scoring victory over the Blades, with the away side likely to keep a clean sheet.
