Leicester expected to extend Sheff Utd’s winless start

Sheffield United will be searching for their first Premier League win of the season when Leicester City visit Bramall Lane on Sunday.

Unsurprisingly, the Blades find themselves bottom of the table, having taken just a single point from their opening ten games this term.

At the other end of the standing, the Foxes sit fourth – one point behind third-place Chelsea and three points behind leaders Tottenham.

After losing their first four games, Sheff Utd’s sole point came from a draw with fellow strugglers Fulham back in October.

Since then, Chris Wilder’s men have lost five straight matches, firing a blank against Manchester City, West Ham, and West Brom.

Not only are the Blades the joint-lowest scorers in the league (4), they also have one of the worst defensive records (16).

Looking at the bigger picture, Sheff Utd have only managed to win three of their last 22 games in all competitions, with 12 defeats coming in their previous 14.

It is also worth pointing out that Wilder’s side have failed to score in five of their last six home matches in all competitions.

Meanwhile, Leicester have won six of their opening ten league games this season, although they are yet to pick up a draw (four defeats).

The Foxes racked up a six-game winning streak in all competitions across late October and early November, yet they now head into Sunday’s clash on a four-match winless run.

Back-to-back league defeats to Liverpool and Fulham have come alongside a draw with Braga and a loss to Zorya Luhansk in the Europa League.

However, trends show that Leicester have won by over 2.5 goals in three of their previous five away matches in the Premier League.

Foxes striker Jamie Vardy (8) currently sits third in the Golden Boot race, behind Son Heung-min (9) and Dominic Calvert-Lewin (10).

Head-to-head: Leicester are unbeaten in their last eight meetings with Sheff Utd in all competitions, winning each of their previous four.

The Foxes have also kept four clean sheets in their last six matches against the Blades, while scoring over 1.5 goals in three of their previous four.

Team news: Jack O’Connell remains sideline for Sheff Utd, with Ethan Ampadu and Enda Stevens likely to be assessed before Sunday.

Timothy Castagne could return for Leicester this weekend, but Caglar Soyuncu looks set to miss out having been forced off after just 15 minutes in his comeback match in midweek.

Leicester haven’t been at their best in recent games. However, Sheff Utd have been nothing short of dreadful so far this season.

Forebet predicts that Leicester will score over 1.5 goals on their way to victory over the Blades on Sunday.
