Title-chasing Borussia Dortmund travel to the Volkswagen Arena on Saturday to face a Wolfsburg side who are chasing a spot in next season’s Europa League.

The Wolves are currently sixth in the standings following a dramatic late win over Augsburg in the previous round. Renato Steffen’s opener was cancelled out by Tin Jedvaj, but Daniel Ginczek’s injury-time winner handed Wolfsburg all three points.

Still, after notching up ten shots and 60% possession, Oliver Glasner’s side were fully deserving of the victory.

Wolfsburg are now two points ahead of seventh-place Freiburg but remain a whopping 11 points behind fourth-place Bayer Leverkusen.

However, with just three defeats in their previous 20 home league games and no losses in their last seven, it’s safe to say that Wolfsburg are one of the division’s in-form sides.

Talking on in-form sides, no teams has picked up more points than Borussia Dortmund across their last five matches. In fact, Dortmund have won each of their previous five by an aggregate scoreline of 13-1.

An emphatic 4-0 derby over rivals Schalke in the Rivierderby last weekend kept Lucien Favre’s men in second place – four points behind Bayern Munich.

It’s hardly surprising that Erling Haaland was on target yet again last time out. The teenage sensation now has 10 goals and three assists in just nine Bundesliga appearances since arriving at the club.

The recent head-to-head record between the two teams doesn’t make for good reading for Wolfsburg. In fact, Dortmund haven’t lost to the Wolves in any of their last nine meetings.

Dortmund claimed a convincing 3-0 victory in the reverse fixture earlier in the campaign thanks to goals from Thorgan Hazard, Raphael Guerreiro, and Mario Gotze.

Their most recent win over Wolfsburg means that Dortmund have now scored over 2.5 goals in five of their last seven victories against the Wolves.

Look at the team news, midfielder Ignacio Camacho and right-back William remain long-term absentees for Wolfsburg. However, Yannick Gerhardt could return for the hosts.

Jadon Sancho started on the bench last weekend, while Emre Can, Marco Reus, and Axel Witsel didn’t even make Dortmund’s matchday squad. Lucien Favre is expected to freshen things up on Saturday.

This is set to be an excellent encounter between two high-quality, in-form sides. But when you couple Dortmund’s recent superiority over Wolfsburg with their blistering current form, an away win is looking likely.

Forebet predicts that Borussia Dortmund will once again score over 2.5 goals on their way to beating Wolfsburg.
