The 3rd round of the FA Cup begins this weekend with matches being played on Saturday and Sunday. One of the games being played on Sunday is between Crystal Palace and Derby County at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles will be hoping this is the season they can reach the final and come out on top for the first time in their history. The Rams Have won the FA Cup once in their history doing so back in 1946.

Crystal Palace come into this game having picked up a point in a 1-1 draw at Norwich City on New Year's Day in the Premier League. They came back from an early goal down to secure a point and played well in the second half. That result means Crystal Palace have won only one of their last 6 matches, all of which have come in the Premier League.

However, despite only having won one of their last 6 games Crystal Palace have lost just one of their last 8 matches. The defeat came away to Newcastle United in the Premier League and trends show Crystal Palace are undefeated in their last 3 home games, winning 2 and drawing one.

Crystal Palace were eliminated at the quarter final stage last season by Watford and the fans will be keen to see them go far again in this campaign.

Derby County make the trip to Selhurst Park having defeated Barnsley 2-1 at home in the championship on Thursday night. There was a lot of attention surrounding this game as it saw Wayne Rooney return to competitive English club football and set up a goal for his new team. However, despite the victory Derby County remain in the bottom half of the Championship table.

The Rams are unbeaten in their last 3 games having defeated Charlton Athletic and Barnsley at home plus picked up a point in a draw at Wigan Athletic. Although Derby have enjoyed some good recent results, their away form remains poor and they have failed to win any of their last 12 away matches in all competitions. In fact, Derby County have lost 8 of their last 12 away games in all competitions and have failed to score a goal in 6 of their last 7 on the road.

Team news and Crystal Palace may choose to rest some of their first team regulars for this game. However, with an extensive injury list including Patrick Van Aanholt, Christian Benteke, Scott Dann, Gary Cahill, Andros Townsend, Jeffrey Schlupp, Joel Ward and Luke Dreher it will be interesting to see what Roy Hodgson decides to do.

Derby County may also choose to rotate some of their players which means Wayne Rooney could start the match. George Evans, Graeme Shinnie, Mason Bennett, Tom Huddlestone, Richard Keogh and Ikechi Anya are among those who could miss out.

Changes to the Crystal Palace starting XI should work in favour of the visitors but with such a poor away record it is unlikely Derby County are going to win this match. A home win to nil seems the most likely outcome.
