Celtic set for massive old form victory
3790

The race for the SPL title has been one of the most interesting in recent years, as Rangers have kept in touch with perennial champions Celtic for much of the campaign.

However, heading into Sunday lunchtime’s old firm clash at Celtic Park, the Hoops have now established a five-point lead. There is also a game in-hand for Steven Gerrard’s team that has to be factored into the equation. However, if the reigning champions beat the Gers, then they will have a significant eight-point cushion at the top of the table.

Both teams head into this massive Glasgow derby in good form. The home side has recorded 11 straight victories, while Rangers are unbeaten in 14 league games since the reverse fixture at Ibrox in September.

Celtic have been prolific in front of goal in recent campaigns and this season has been no different either in the SPL. The Hoops are on a roll in front of goal, scoring at least two goals in their 11 straight wins in the Scottish Premiership. Unsurprisingly, the champions are the top scorers in the SPL.

The form of highly-rated French forward Odsonne Edouard has played a big part in Celtic’s attacking efforts this season. The youngster has scored 12 times in his 16 league appearances this season.

The home side has only scored three more goals than their city rivals. Gerrard’s team has also scored at least twice in eight of their last nine league outings. Celtic may have one prolific striker, but Celtic have two in the shape of Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe, who have scored 12 and 11 goals each respectively in the Scottish top-flight.

Celtic have had the better of this fixture in recent years, as they have won five of the last seven league meetings between the two teams.

Forebet predicts that Celtic will record another old firm victory to move eight points clear of their rivals at the top of the SPL table.
