Birmingham could nick the points against Millwall
2286

Although Birmingham City have now gone 4 matches without a win in the Championship, they’ll be pleased with recent back-to-back draws away from home at Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday which ended 2 previous defeats on the trot.

Losses to Cardiff City and Fulham had threatened to send Birmingham sliding down the Championship table but The Blues have shored things up by grabbing valuable points on the road and they’ll head into this clash with Millwall at St Andrews in reasonably confident mood.

Despite suffering recent defeats on home turf to Preston North End and Fulham, who both incidentally occupy places in the top five of the Championship, Birmingham still possess a reasonable looking home record which has seen the hosts win 5 of their 8 at St Andrews.

Victories against Barnsley, Stoke City, Middlesbrough, Blackburn Rovers and Luton Town should give Birmingham a boost ahead of this clash with Millwall and former Blues manager, Gary Rowett, as Birmingham seek to return to winning ways.

It’s worth mentioning that Birmingham have suffered just 2 defeats out of their last 12 matches at St Andrews, and it’s still a tough place to visit and take all three points with you.

Millwall extended their unbeaten run at the New Den to 5 matches in the Championship during the week when they drew 2-2 with Wigan Athletic, and having recorded a 2-1 win away at Swansea City last time out on their travels, Rowett & co will fancy their chances of getting something from their trip to the west midlands this Saturday.

However, it should be noted that the win at The Swans ended a miserable run of 12 away matches without success in the Championship, a record which extended back into the latter stages of last season.

The win at Swansea also marked Millwall’s only clean sheet during this 12-match spell on the road, and indeed, this appears to be Millwall’s achilles heel as The Lions have kept just 3 clean sheets out of their last 31 matches on the road in the second tier.

It’s therefore safe to say that Birmingham City will also fancy their chances of breaching this Millwall defence and taking something from this clash, and all three points here is definitely not out of the question here for The Blues.
